A Resource Guide - Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD)

Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) is a distinctive, intriguing, and sometimes controverial syndrome. Diagnosis with this syndrome's characteristics may result in a prognosis of a learning disability(s). Although, these characteristics may be found both in children and adults, male and female, this resource guide will focus on ADHD in children. The purpose of this resource guide is to provide parents, teachers, and students diagnosed with ADHD with a guide to library materials available on this subject.

How to Use This Guide

This guide has been prepared specifically for patrons of Trident Academy and the Batson Hewitt, Jr. Library, but it also contains information for the general Charleston community. The guide includes available resources from the Charleston County Public Library, the College of Charleston Library, and Trident Academy Library. Some libraries may have older editions of a particular source. When there are different editions at a library, the edition is noted in the information provided with local call numbers. Some library electronic databases may require a user name and pass code. Patrons who hold a library card at the Charleston County Public Library may contact the library for a user name and pass code. College of Charleston electronic databases are only available to students and faculty but may use the services on campus. Trident Academy parents, teachers and students can obtain user names and pass codes to all DISCUS databases from the librarian.
An Overview of ADHD

David Rabiner, PhD, Duke University, provides a consise overview of the subject.
