Students gathered together to participate in activities after they set up their camp.

 

 

 Fossil Fuels by Lucas Bybee

The United States uses about 17 million barrels of oil every day.

Petroleum accounts for nearly 40% of our country's energy.

Coal is used to produce almost 60% of our nation’s electrical power, and accounts for 22% of our overall energy consumption. 

Natural gas, a third form of fossil fuel, accounts for roughly 23% of The United States energy usage.

Survivor Night, an overnight outdoor camping adventure (using the school soccer field) for students, parents, families, and teachers, was held where no electronics were used (T.V., cell phones, I-Pods, video games, etc.). The event was held to teach about the importance of conserving fossil fuels. Students showcased their solar cookers (see solar cooker tab).

Students also developed skits, games, and presentations to teach campers about fossil fuels and energy conservation.
